Decoding the success stories
By now, we ourselves have witnessed a pattern in every Student of The Fortnight and their story of success. These extraordinary students have a fascination and curiosity for data and its potential to re-invent the wheel in every industry today.
Suraj reinforced this claim by demonstrating his fascination for data science and its industry applications from healthcare to finance. From rough sketches to bold strokes
Suraj took us back to the time when he was undergoing training in his previous company as a Backend Developer. He was introduced to the programming side of data science and he didn’t take much time to connect the dots and create a mental picture of pursuing data science and merging it with his passion for coding.
“I have always been passionate about coding, whether it is JAVA, PHP or creating a simple web page in HTML or CSS. I wanted an institute that could mould my coding knowledge into building an understanding of data and making strong predictions to give business insights”, he recalled.
The beauty of data science is in its diversity as it allows professionals with different skillsets to chart their own course by merging their strength with the knowledge of data science and data analytics techniques. Data science is not just for those who like crunching numbers. The data science course from Manipal ProLearn is especially designed for professionals from versatile backgrounds.
A career of choice is one’s masterpiece
Suraj with his background as a computer science student was fascinated by Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. He aspired to learn and employ these modern technologies in his career and his training at Manipal helped him understand the link between the financial domain and ML/AI concepts in data analytics.
This became a key factor in helping Suraj pursue a career of his choice in one of the biggest credit rating agencies in the world. And he is enjoying every bit of it! Suraj shared his experience of getting placed in his dream company, “It feels amazing to be a part of such a talented team in a world-renowned firm, which deals with such a huge amount of financial data. I couldn’t have asked for a better start!”
Suraj plans to further understand the role of a big data scientist in the company where he can utilise his technical skills along with the domain knowledge.

Recalling his time at ProLearn, Suraj shared that the entire batch was like a family and he never felt home sick. He found himself lucky to be mentored by faculty members like Mr Kathirmani Sukuma, Mr Mallikarjuna Doddamane, and Mr Amit who enriched the learning experience with their invaluable insights.
