Home > Blogs > New Beginnings for New Batch of Data Enthusiasts
On the 28th of January 2019, the 6th batch of students of Manipal ProLearn’s PG Diploma in Data Science Program was inducted into Manipal ProLearn’s Data Science Academy in Bangalore. The induction ceremony was the first step the students took towards new beginnings for the new year, and simultaneously, it was their first step towards analytics success.
To new beginnings
The induction ceremony was a cue for a unique and enriching learning experience that will follow as the young data wizards set forth on an 11-month journey to transform their careers.
The ceremony began with a video message for the new batch from Mr. S Vaitheeswaran, CEO, Manipal Education & Medical Group; CEO & MD, Manipal Global Education Services. Being a visionary and the driving force behind Manipal Global Education, Vaithee gave a glimpse of how technology will govern the future with data science taking the center stage.
Colossal amounts of data are created every day with immense business value. The industry is facing a dearth of qualified professionals who can make sense of this data and generate insights to give enterprises an edge. The new batch of data wizards will be trained in data analytics techniques to become the bearers-of-change by holding crucial positions in the industry and by filling the skill gap with passion and professionalism.

Data is changing the industries fundamentally
Mr. Gopal Devanahalli took the dais to deliver an introductory speech that shed light on how data-driven insights have taken over the steering wheel for innovation. He quoted this phenomenon as the key factor to why data scientists are drawing much higher pay packages than IT engineers.
The 6th batch of Data Science students come from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Their decision to combine their existing skill-sets with data science will certainly help them create a robust career path with a new set of responsibilities towards their industry to usher innovation.

Dr. S. Ramesh Babu, Director, Data Science, Manipal ProLearn
And the words of wisdom continued…
Dr. S. Ramesh Babu, Director, Data Science, and Digital Products, Manipal ProLearn took over the stage to take the new batch of students through the program structure. He said, “Learning the basics is important to enhance your knowledge in advanced studies.”
ProLearn's P.G Diploma in Data Science is designed keeping core concepts as a foundation and advanced topics like machine learning, deep learning, and analytics as offshoots focusing on industry-wise applications taught by industry experts.

Extending the Manipal Prolearn Data Science legacy
Manipal ProLearn Data Science alma mater has created a name for the institute in some of the best big data analytics companies in the world. Sushmitha Krishna Kumar, an alumna of Manipal ProLearn and a Data Scientist at Gramener delivered an inspiring speech to the new batch of students on her experience and journey at Manipal ProLearn. She drew an interesting analogy by comparing the program to a buffet. She said, “Manipal is a like buffet. You get the opportunity to taste varied kinds of food here but in the end, it is your decision of choosing the dish to eat.”
