Demystifying the sales myths
A fresh candidate, who wishes to step on the sales career, encounters many misconceptions about the sales role. Some may take these as a challenge or others may consider them discouraging points or may give up the wish to enter the sales profession.
Here we are trying to demystify these myths:
1. Sales = Rejections
True, rejection is part of sales, but the sales professionals are always in demand. You may be rejected nine times, but the tenth one may accept you and will be worth enough you to success. This is the beauty of the job.
2. Sales is not suitable for women
A blatant misconception prevails in our society that sales role is good for men. But research shows that women’s win rates in sales are 11% higher than men.
3. Pressure, Pressure & Pressure
Like all other jobs, the amount of pressure is high in sales. Meeting the daily, weekly, monthly and annual sales targets, reaching to prospective buyers on time and achieving goals are among a few. But the kind of incentives and rewards you earn in sales will not give you any other jobs.
4. Selling requires extroverts
Often true. However, according to studies, introverts close more sales than extroverts because they are good listeners.
These are some of the myths related to the sales profession. As we noted, all these have some other perspectives to debunk the claims.
